Moodle makes a distinction between two types of content:
Resources are content that the instructor intends for the student to consume; activities are intended to be interactive. Therefore a syllabus or a chapter reading would be considered a resource. A quiz or a discussion forum would be considered an activity. This tutorial section demonstrates how to add resources; anything from a simple paragraph of formatted text, a .PDF or Word file, or a link to an external web page. Moodle offers these and many more types of content resources.
